The Corona pandemic has completely disrupted the schedule of master-athletes-events in 2020. At championships as well as at regional competitions, such as the “Stendaler Hanse Cup”, the internationally recognised multi event meeting of the Masters, which traditionally takes place at the end of May since 2013

It was a good and right decision by the organisers not to cancel the “8th Stendaler Hanse-Cup” and to move it to the autumn.

And so the “8th Stendaler Hanse Cup” (SHC) took place on the last weekend of September in the region of Altmark (GER), still under the influence of corona and on top of that in cool and rainy weather.

But even this challenge was mastered by the organisers around Siggi Wille, who not only saw grateful champions at the victory ceremonies at the end of the second day, but also set a world record in the men’s pentathlon (Wim Threels, NED, M 65) and a European record, also in the pentathlon (Karlheinz Teufert, GER, M 90), in addition to numerous national records (in individual competitions).

“This SHC was a different event,” says Bernd Rehpenning, who lists the multi event records in his statistics (Model Results 2010) and will present the current status shortly.

“See you again in 2021 at the next family meeting in Stendal” was the unanimous motto at the end of a “different” multi-event weekend in Stendal (GER).
