Doug Smith was honoured, at the Athletics Ontario Virtual Awards Gala on Wednesday December 15. He was presented with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers from the Governor General, her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon.
The Queen’s Medal is the highest award given to a Volunteer in Canada.
Doug is the chair of the Ontario Masters an athlete and a good friend of World Masters Athletics for many years. He was an integral part of the Toronto 2020 winning bid.
Many of you will know Doug as the photographer taking the finish line photos at many of the indoor and outdoor WMA Championships and posting them for free download on Ontario and Canadian websites.
